Since Modi government enacted the law on instant Triple Talaq making it a criminal offence, the highest number of such cases have been registered in Uttar Pradesh Agra.
“Among the six districts in Agra zone, the highest number of cases were registered in Taj Nagari. A total of 17 cases have been reported in the zone and out of these, four cases are from Agra, two in Aligarh, and three in Mathura. All triple talaq cases in Agra zone have been sent to the DGP,” said a report by India Today.
The report added that three cases of instant divorces were given only after one and half-hour of the wedding. A case was filed in Tajganj police station in which triple talaq was given 25 years after the marriage.

In other parts of Uttar Pradesh such as Hathras, Etah, Kasganj, Mainpuri, and Firozabad, multiple cases of triple talaq were registered.
The new tripe talaq law or The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019 makes the practice of instant divorce through 'triple talaq' among Muslims a punishable offence.
The new law makes 'talaq-e-biddat' or any other similar form of talaq having the effect of instantaneous and irrevocable divorce pronounced by a Muslim husband void and illegal.
It makes it illegal to pronounce talaq three times -- spoken, written or through SMS or WhatsApp or any other electronic chat -- in one sitting.
Muslim husband who pronounces talaq to get a jail term of up to three years, shall also be liable to fine.
