Ahead of Festive Season, a number of states ban use and sale of firecrackers

Some other states are also mulling about a similar ban.

Firecrackers Covid-19 Air-Pollution

While the nation is battling with the dual problem of Covid 19 and air pollution, a number of states have banned the bursting of firecrackers. Here’s a full list of states where firecrackers are banned this festive season.

Rajasthan: In wake of Covid and air pollution Chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday has taken the decision to ban the sale of firecrackers. A further fine of Rs. 2000 is decided for the infringement of the orders

Odisha: A day after Rajasthan banned firecrackers, the Odisha government too announced a ban on the sale of firecrackers from November 10 to 30.

Sikkim: In order to safeguard the health of those who recovered from Covid 19, the Sikkim government has decided to ban the sale of crackers on Wednesday.

Delhi: CM Arvind Kejriwal urged people to celebrate Green Diwali. Amidst a massive surge in fresh cases of Covid, National Capital is also battling with the toxic smog. CM has announced a ban on the use of firecrackers till November 30

West Bengal: In West Bengal, the Calcutta High Court banned the use of crackers on Kali Puja, Diwali, and Chhath Puja to contain the spread of Covid 

Maharashtra: State government has urged citizens to avoid bursting of crackers, whereas in Mumbai BMC has banned bursting of crackers in public places.

Meanwhile, states like Haryana and Madhya Pradesh have banned the sale and distribution of ‘imported firecrackers’ and on the same line some other states are also mulling about a similar ban.
