Marathi actor Akshay Waghmare to marry Mumbai don Arun Gawli’s daughter in simple ceremony amidst lockdown

While Akshay is known for acting in Marathi films and serials, Yogita is a lawyer by profession

The relationship between India's film industry and the underworld is not new in India. As per reports, former gangster Arun Gawli’s daughter Yogita is set to marry Marathi actor Akshay Waghmare in a simple ceremony in Central Mumbai’s Dagadi Chawl on Friday amid lockdown. The couple will tie the knot at Shankar temple in the presence of their family members without any big celebrations. Earlier, they were scheduled to get married on March 29 in a grand manner at a five-star hotel in Lower Parel. However, it was postponed due to the ongoing lockdown.

The Agripada Police have been informed by the family and only three to four guests each from both families are expected to attend the wedding ceremony. Moreover, the families have also assured that they will strictly adhere to all lockdown rules.

Akshay and Yogita Haldi ceremony: 

As per reports, the Marathi actor and his family members secured necessary permission from relevant authorities and travelled to Mumbai for the wedding on Wednesday. In the evening on Thursday, the couple had their Haldi ceremony in the presence of their family members. Yogita and Akshay got had got engaged in December last year.

While Akshay is known for acting in Marathi films and serials, Yogita is a lawyer by profession. She also runs an NGO that distributes free sanitary pads to underprivileged women. She is the youngest of Gawli’s three children. 

Arun Gawli is out on parole


The families have decided to organize the wedding amid lockdown because Gawli is out on parol and might have to turn himself into the police. He has submitted an application for the extension of parol but the hearing is pending before the Bombay High Court. The former underworld don is serving out a life term in Nagpur Jail for murdering Shiv Sena corporator Kalakar Jamasandekar.
