Famous by the moniker Vladimir Putin's 'enemy number 1', Alexei Navalny died at the age of 47. As per reports, Alexei Navalny's death took place in a Siberia prison. Alexei Navalny was a staunch critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin who was serving jail time in a Serbian Prison. Alexei Navalny, the jailed Russian opposition leader, 47, was discovered in one of Putin's toughest jails in December last year after going missing for 20 days. A US media report quoted officials in the prison where Alexei Navalny was being held claimed the Kremlin critic had died. Alexei Navalny was reportedly suffering from serious health problems in jail. The report stated that Alexei Navalny was apparently put in solitary confinement again before his alleged death.

 

For the unversed, Alexei Navalny's animosity with Putin is well documented. In 2022, a documentary on Alexei Navalny was also made in the USA. Titled Navalny, the 2022 American documentary film was directed by Daniel Roher. Navalny first premiered on January 25, 2022 at the Sundance Film Festival, where it received critical and audience acclaim.

 

Later, Navalny won the Audience Award in the US Documentary competition. However, it created history when Navalny won the Best Documentary Feature at the 95th Academy Awards. It also won the award for Best Political Documentary at the 7th Critics' Choice Documentary Awards and picked up Best Documentary at the 76th BAFTA Awards ceremony.
