All those engaged in Covid duties to be included as frontline workers for vaccination drive: DC Ghanshyam Thori

Jalandhar so far registered 33329 beneficiaries, 9987 get Covid jabs Sewa Kendras to also start registration of AB-Sarbat Sehat Bima Cards

Frontline-Workers Vaccination-Drive Jalandhar

Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Wednesday said that all those officials/employees of the various departments who took part vigorously in novel coronavirus duties would be inducted as frontline workers in the ongoing vaccination drive.

Participating in a video-conference presided over by Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that several departments and their staff members who were part of the COVID management team, will be given a vaccine shot as front line workers.

Deputy Commissioner told that personnel from several departments of revenue, Panchayati Raj, sanitation, food, civil and supply, Powercom, education were engaged in Covid related works and actively took part in the management of Covid pandemic since its beginning.

He said that the war against the pandemic was fought collectively by all departments and determined efforts were made to contain the spread of the virus.

Ghanshyam Thori directed the heads of all departments to send the detailed list of names of their staff members who are willing to get COVID vaccination so that they can be registered on the Covid portal.

He said that till now in Jalandhar, 33,329 beneficiaries have been registered on the portal including 15497 health and 17832 frontline workers. Deputy Commissioner said that 9987 beneficiaries including 6969 health and 3018 frontline workers have been vaccinated.

He also exhorted all registered beneficiaries to receive the vaccine according to the schedule and made it clear that the vaccine is completely safe and effective.

Appealing to the people not to fall prey to any kind of rumours, he said this vaccine was vital to combat the pandemic and all of us must come forward in getting the shots.

However, Deputy Commissioner also added that in the coming days, Sewa Kendras will also start the service of enrollment of people under AB-Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna.

He also directed the health, food, civil and supply, labour, district program office and others to generate the maximum awareness about this ambitious health program of the state government which gives cashless health insurance cover of Rs. 5 Lakh/family/year.
