Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Thursday night announced the losure of all schools and colleges in the state for the next three days. Harjot Bains took to his official X handle and announced, "In view of the evolving situation, it is hereby ordered that all Schools, Colleges, and Universities — Government, Private, and Aided — across entire Punjab shall remain completely closed for the next three days."

The decision of schools and colleges' holidays in Punjab came in the backdrop of Pakistan's cowardly drone attacks that targeted multiple districts of Punjab. However, Indian defence system worked swiftly and neutralized all drones in the sky itself, and no casualty was reported.

Pakistan's drone attack on India

According to reports, Pakistani drones attempted to strike the Jammu Airport and the Pathankot Air Force Station. In a swift response, India’s advanced S-400 air defense system successfully intercepted and neutralized all incoming drones, preventing any reported damage or casualties at the targeted locations.

Amid the drone strikes, a full blackout was enforced in Jammu from 8 PM onwards as a precautionary measure. Simultaneously, heavy shelling was reported from Pakistan's side in the R.S. Pura sector. Local residents in border areas confirmed hearing multiple loud explosions during the night.

In a related development, Pakistan also launched drone attacks in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. In a significant military response, Indian forces shot down a Pakistani F-16 fighter jet near the Jammu region (True Scoop cannot verify this claim as it has been reported by various news media, and for confirmation official statement from the government needs to come).

As a result of the heightened threat perception, all border districts in Rajasthan have been placed under blackout. Meanwhile, states including Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, and Rajasthan remain on high alert, with security forces deployed in large numbers along the International Border and Line of Control.
