In a major development, Amritsar DC Sakshi Sawhney on Monday night announced that all schools, colleges, and universities will remain closed on May 13, 2025. Amritsar School & College Holiday was announced as a precautionary measure amid reports of drone sightings in some districts of Punjab. Therefore, Amritsar DC on X announced, "All the Schools, Private Institutions Colleges and university of District Amritsar will remain closed on 13-05-2025."
Following this announcement, Amritsar DC informed, "8.45 PM 12th May..You will hear a siren. We are on alert and initiating the blackout. Please switch off your lights and move away from your windows. Stay calm, we will inform when ready to restore the power supply. Don't panic at all. This is by way of abundant caution."
Blackout in Hoshairpur
Even though there is a ceasefire on the borders between India and Pakistan, the alert is still on in the border districts of Punjab. Due to this, there is a blackout in Amritsar again today. Sirens blared and residents were advised to stay indoors and away from windows. Also, the flight coming from Delhi was not allowed to land here and was returned to Delhi.
At the same time, there was a blackout in Hoshiarpur, and sirens blared in the region. A few reports suggested that explosions had also been heard, but True Scoop cannot verify this claim.
Hoshiarpur Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said, "We are declaring a precautionary partial blackout in the areas of Dasuya and Mukerian for some time...I appeal to the residents of Hoshiarpur to observe a voluntary blackout on their part and stay inside their homes. There is no need to panic..."
