Hours before Congress General Secretary Harish Rawat was scheduled to visit Punjab to de-escalate tension between the two factions, PPCC President Navjot Singh Sidhu has once again cornered his own government and previous Akali government on the ‘inaction’ against those involved in drug peddling case.

While sharing plight of the youth of Punjab and thousands of tormented mothers who have lost their children due to the drug menace spread across the state by notorious drug mafia, Sidhu said that the people of state are eagerly awaiting for the report of Special Task Force (STF) on Bikramjit Singh Majithia, ex-Akali minister and brother-in-law of former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.

He said that STF report on Majithia in the Rs 6000 crore Bhola Drug Racket is likely to be opened by Division Bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on September 2.

The PPCC chief said that as the date is approaching, all eyes are on the High Court, and the people especially those who have lost their innocent children to the drug menace have high hopes that a stern action would be taken against the main culprit. He said that judiciary of the country has always proved to be a true saviour of the citizens.

Questioning the Government inaction, Sidhu said that despite the High Court’s directions, both these governments had done nothing to extradite the 13 drug smugglers back to India, who peddled drugs in Punjab and smuggled drugs to some countries. These drug smugglers operated under the cover of government security using VIP vehicles provided by former minister Bikramjit Singh Majithia.

The state Congress chief said that even a common man can sense that why these drug smugglers had not been extradited since the last five years. “Because had they been brought to book, they would have spilled the beans and would have exposed the unholy nexus of drug peddlers and politicians,” Sidhu added.

Sidhu said that these accused not only roamed in the VIP vehicles of Majithia under security cover but they also used to reside with him. He said that money exchange with Amritsar-based businessman Jagjit Singh Chahal and statements of wrestler-turned-cop Bhola and Majithia’s former election agent Maninder Singh alias Bittu Aulakh are strong proofs of Majithia’s involvement in this case. “What are we hiding? Why no action? Why no transparency? Why this delay,” Sidhu questioned.

Saying that it is the cause of saving Punjab’s future generations from the clutches of drugs, all eyes are on the Hon’ble High Court to save them, as the people of Punjab are eagerly awaiting for the STF report to be unsealed.

With this, the Punjab Congress chief gave a clarion call to the people in this big battle to wipe out the menace of drugs from this Holy land of Gurus and Peers.
