An explosive substance was placed under a car parked outside a police sub-inspectors residence on Ranjit Avenue in C Block, Amritsar's posh area, by unidentified youths. The bomb was found under the sub-inspector's car. After noticing the wire close to the car's Tyre, the youth who came to wash the car in the morning told the sub-inspector. Additionally, a CCTV video of the incident has come to light, based on which the police started an investigation.

Sub-Inspector Dilbag Singh said that he was being threatened even earlier, after which he was given security.

Two young people came daily to wash Dilbag Singh's car. Manga and his companion were maintaining their parked cars outside Dilbag Singh's home on Tuesday morning. When they both noticed a box-like object lying beneath the vehicle's back wheel during this, they both alerted Dilbag Singh. Dilbagh Singh was shocked to discover the detonator there when he got close to the car. He told the departmental officers about it right away.

While giving information to the media, Border Range Police IG Monish Chawla said that explosive material has been found under the car parked outside the kothi of the police officer Dilbag Singh in C block of police station Ranjit Avenue, and took it into custody. A forensic team came from Chandigarh. He said that the police have engaged the investigation teams to take action, its CCTV footage is also being checked so that these youths can be identified and registered a case against it in the police station on Ranjit Avenue.

It is being speculated that this bomb was prepared by putting a detonator with RDX. Both these youths reached there on a bike and fled after planting the bomb. Efforts are being made to identify the two suspects based on this CCTV footage.

Sub-Inspector Dilbag Singh said that the bomb found a few days earlier from Tarn Taran is similar to the one that was planted under his car.  According to Dilbagh Singh, the bomb may have fallen to the ground because the two suspects did not correctly put it under the car, catching Manga and his companions' attention. According to Dilbag Singh, he was lucky since the bomb could have detonated when he was driving.
