Amritsar: gang blackmails youth over nude video, demands Rs.20,000 to avoid its circulation

The Cyber Crime Cell of Amritsar has initiated an investigation after the victim complained against the blackmailers.

A case of blackmailing has come in Amritsar, Punjab that dumbfounds every person who gets to know the news. The case related to the blackmailing of a boy by a group of youngsters has come to the fore.

The accused members of the gang blackmailed the victim through screen recording of nude video calls on WhatsApp. After blackmailing, the accused also shared their UPI ID with the victim and demanded money from him.

The Cyber Crime Cell of Amritsar has initiated an investigation after the victim complained against the blackmailers.

The complaint has been lodged against the accused in the Majitha Road Police Station, Amritsar. Reportedly, the victim works at Swami Vivekananda De-addiction Center.

Explaining the whole case, the victim revealed that he received the first blackmail call on August 19 when he was in the hospital himself. As he picked up the call, a woman was standing naked and talking to him. During the conversation, she asked the victim also to remove his clothes, but he refused to do so and cut the call immediately. He even blocked the number from which the video call came. After this, he started receiving calls from the gang that blackmailed him.

The victim again received the video call on 25th August from another number. As he picked up the call, a girl started threatening him and said that she has a nude video of the boy made. If the victim wants to avoid it from being circulated, then he should transfer her 20,000 Rs. she added further.

He again disconnected the call and blocked that number as well.

The investigation regarding this is going on and the cyber crime cell is making sure to trace the number of the video calls and catch the culprits as soon as possible.
