Amritsar: Heroin worth Rs 42 crores recovered from smugglers; police started investigation

Counter Intelligence (CI) team arrested three smugglers near Valla in Punjab's Amritsar district

Three smugglers were apprehended near Valla in Punjab's Amritsar district on Thursday afternoon by Counter Intelligence (CI) team. The accused also had 6 kg of heroin in possession. A girl and two men are among the three smugglers apprehended. After arresting the three, the police have begun an investigation. The police will soon present the suspects in court and place them on remand.

The CI team had secret information about the accused, according to the information received. The police arrested two youths, as well as the girl from Valla, based on this information. They were also found to have 6 kg of heroin on them, according to the police. The heroin's international worth is estimated to be Rs 42 crore. The girl who was apprehended is a student at a prestigious Amritsar college.

Deepak and Mehak Rai, both from Mohawa, have been identified as the suspects. While the girl is Lovepreet Kaur, a resident of Gurdaspur, who studies in a private college in Amritsar. The CI team plans to present the three suspects in court as soon as possible so that in-depth interrogation can begin after they are remanded.
