Amritsar: Khalsa College students create world record, carry out longest ‘Nagar Kirtan’ on Prakash Parv

Nagar Kirtan started from Khalsa College, passed through Putlighar Chowk, Railway Station, Bhandari Bridge Hal Bazar and reached Golden Temple.

On occasion of 553 Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Prakash Parv, Governing Council of Amritsar Khalsa College carried out 7-km-long ‘Nagar Kirtan’ involving 20,000 students. This is the world record formed by them for carrying out the longest-ever Nagar Kirtan. As per the information, it started from college and ended at Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple).

Reportedly, Nagar Kirtan involved 20,000 devotees involving students, teachers, administration and non-teaching staff. Resounding chants like 'Bole So Nihal, Panth Ki Jeet' were also heard during the procession.

President Council Mr. Satyajit Singh Manjithia and Honorary Secretary Mr. Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina congratulated all involved devotees and praised them for carrying out the biggest Nagar Kirtan ever.

On this occasion, the students of various educational institutions and Khalsa College also showcased Gatka during procession. Nagar Kirtan started from Khalsa College, passed through Putlighar Chowk, Railway Station, Bhandari Bridge Hal Bazar and reached Golden Temple.

Nagar Kirtan is a procession led by the saffron-robed Panj Piare who are followed by the van which has Guru Granth Sahib, the holy Sikh scripture, inside it.
