A youth sparked controversy as he took his turban off while performing Bhangra on stage at Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar. The youth was performing Bhangra but had to take off his turban as it was loosened and could fall off at any moment. However, the video went viral causing controversy to break out, where some people called the incident an insult to the turban, while others praised him for finishing the performance and taking it off before it fell on his feet.

The youth in the video however has since apologised. He says that while he cannot say if he was right or wrong, he knows that if he hadn’t taken it off himself, it would have fallen off and fallen in his feet.

Incident occurred during Jashn 2024

Like every year, Jashn 2024 was celebrated in Sri Guru Nanak Dev University in which Bhangra performance was given. While performing Bhangra, a young man's turban became loose on the stage. He fixed the turban twice while dancing, but when it became loose again, he took it off himself before it came off. After taking it off, he respectfully placed the turban right in front of the stage and completed his performance.

When the young man took off his turban while performing Bhangra, the whole hall echoed with applause. The audience encouraged the young man by hooting. During this time, this incident was captured in the mobile phones of many students following which it went viral.

After the video went viral, people’s reaction to the incident was mixed. Many people say that the young man has disrespected the turban and he should have stopped the Bhangra at that very moment, while others say that the young man has saved his turban from falling at his feet.
