Law and order in Amritsar has come under a scanner from the time Shiv Sena’s national leader was shot dead amidst tight security. Soon after this, another incident surfaced where liquor contractors and vendors opened fire during a wedding reception that was taking place at a resort in Amritsar. Reportedly, large number of NRIs had gathered for a marriage at the resort and incident left the participants in panic.

Post this incident, NRI who became victim of whole situation said that he is really upset with deteriorating law and order in Amritsar where unknown people came to son’s wedding reception and opened fire. He further added that after this incident he will not be visiting the state ever again. He also showed displeasure over working of the police. It alleged that police were working under influence of a liquor contractor.

As per latest information, 15 persons have got arrested in case so far. The official stated that incident took place due to a dispute over procuring liquor from outside of assigned circle. It was added that police had registered a case and launched a probe immediately after the incident.

While the issue of collapse of law and order in Amritsar is hyping up, senior Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition, Partap Singh Bajwa on Tuesday demanded suspension of Amritsar Police commissioner Arun Pal Singh. He said that CP should be suspended for his inability to control the deteriorating law and order situation in the holy city.
