Anandpur Sahib sees dip in voters turnout in 2024 General Elections as compared to 2019; Check poll percentage

The seventh phase of Lok Sabha election 2024 saw polling in 54 constituencies across 8 states/UTs, including Punjab. In 2024, Punjab saw a voter turnout of 58.33 %. The Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency saw a voter turnout of 60.02 %. In 2019, 63.76% of the total electors cast their vote. 64.81% of the male electors cast their vote, 59.52% of the females and 59.52% of transgender electors cast their vote in 2019.

In 2024 Indian parliamentary elections, Sri Anandpur Sahib saw Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Dr. Subhash Sharma, Aam Aadmi Party’s  (AAP) Malwinder Kang, Shiromani Akali Dal’s (SAD) Prem Singh Chandumajra, and Congress’ Vijay Inder Singla battling it out for the Lok Sabha seat.

The 2019 election winner of Anandpur Sahib constituency, Manish Tewari will be contesting in Chandigarh in 2024 for the INDIA alliance. Sri Anandpur Sahib was introduced as a parliamentary constituency in 2009 as part of the delimitation of parliamentary and assembly constituencies in 2008. Since 2009, the constituency has seen a tight duel between Congress and SAD. Ravneet Singh Bittu, who is contesting in Ludhiana on a BJP ticket this year, won the first parliamentary elections held in this constituency in 2009 for Congress, defeating SAD’s Dr. Diljit Singh Cheema. In 2014, Prem Singh Chandumajra took the victory for SAD, followed by Congress’ Manish Tewari taking the victory over Chandumajra with 39.6% of the votes in 2019.

In 2024, the Anandpur Sahib constituency will be conducting polls at 2,066 polling stations. There are a total of 17,11,255 electors in the constituency with 8,93,567 male, 8,17,627 female and 61 transgender eligible electors.
