A fresh row has erupted after Anasuya Bharadwaj, a popular Telugu host-turned actress took a jibe at South movie star Vijay Deverakonda after his Bollywood debut movie Liger released in theaters on August 25, 2022. The much-hyped Vijay Deverakoda's movie Liger was expected to bring back the audience to theaters and break Bollywood's streak of flop movies. However, after its release, Vijay Deverakonda's movie Liger did not get good reviews and some fans even called the movie unbearable. Film critic Taran Adarsh took expressed his disappointment in Liger's movie story. Anasuya Bharadwaj 'aunty' controversy sparked after the Telugu actress referred to a controversy surrounding Vijay which dates back to 5 years ago when he used a cuss word during the promotions of his film Arjun Reddy. Anasuya took to her Twitter handle and wrote which translates as, "Karma is a boomerang and it does come back even if late. Mother's pain will not go away. Karma.. Sometimes it is difficult to come, but it is sure to come!!." She also added the hashtags "#NotHappyOnSomeonesSadness but #FaithRestored."

Following this, the Telugu actress started to face online hate and social media trolling from Vijay Deverakonda's fans. In fact, 'aunty' started to trend on Twitter with many of Deverakonda's fans started 'age-shaming' the Telugu actress. As a result, Anasuya broke her silence and threatened to take legal action against the trolls who are calling her aunty in an attempt to age-shame her. The 37-year-old actress wrote, "Here by..taking screenshot of every account abusing me..age shaming me by calling“Aunty”..involving my family into this and I will file a case and take it to a point where you will regret getting to me without any legit reason..this is my final warning.."

"Just had a conversation with the Cybercrime and they responded so prompt..I will prove what can happen if you think its your right to abuse anyone for anything. I’ll file a case on Assaulting a women verbally.. outraging her modesty grounds” she added.

Liger box office performance

Coming to Liger's performance on box office, Vijay Deverakonda’s Bollywood debut movie made a decent collection at the ticket counters on its first Friday. In the wake of mixed reviews on its release day, the makers of 'Liger' announced on Friday that the movie has grossed Rs 33.12 crore worldwide on Day One in all languages. Bollymoviereviewz.com reports that worldwide, 'Liger' has grossed Rs 28.1 crore, including Rs 3.63 crore from America, and of this, the all-India share is Rs 19 crore. However seeing fans' response, it is feared that Liger might continue its good performance at the box office.
