
The former Police Commissioner had moved the High Courtasking for “immediate and unbiased” probe against Anil Deshmukh.
The allegation is that Anil Deshmukh had asked policeofficer Sachin Waze to collect Rupees 100 crore per month from bars andrestaurants.
Further, the plea claims that Anil Deshmukh held meetings athis residence with several Mumbai police officials including theabove-mentioned Sachin Waze.
The plea by the former Police Commissioner continues that inthese meetings the police officers were instructed by Anil Deshmukh to collectRs 100 crore per month from various establishments.
Further, Anil Deshmukh regularly derailed police functioningand his misuse of his office was a routine affair.
Param Bir Singh had moved the Supreme Court challenging histransfer and seeking CBI enquiry. His plea was rejected citing that he needs toapproach the Mumbai High Court first.
Param Bir Singh claims that when he approached the ChiefMinister Thackeray on March 17, thereafter no time was wasted in having ParamBir Singh transferred to Home Guards Department.
In this, Singh claims that he was not even allowed to complete“minimum fixed tenure of two years”.
Later on, Deshmukh, the person against whom theseallegations have been made cited the Chief Minister, “Maharashtra CM hasdecided that the allegations levelled against me by former Mumbai PoliceCommissioner will be probed by a retired High Court judge” claiming in writingthat there is “no truth” in the allegations.
All in all, the theatrics of resignation is creating a hueand cry and may help getting public attention. However, the same is not anticipatedto provide any form of relief from the legal proceedings.
