Annual art carnival Chitra Santhe to go online in Bengaluru

The art mart incepted in 2002 but this year it will be held online due to restrictions imposed because of Covid-19.

Covid fright has managed to affect the way of people’s gathering and has forced to either cancel it or postpone it. But the annual iconic street art carnival has refused to bow down and is all set to go online on January 3,2021.

 The art mart incepted in 2002 but this year it will be held online due to restrictions imposed because of Covid-19.

Earlier art market was held on the roads around the center but due to curb on large gatherings in public places the decision has been taken.

The 18th edition of the annual art carnival will be dedicated to Covid-19 warriors and feature cultural programs along with an online art exhibition , said the organizer, the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath. 

As artists, painters and folk troupes from across the state make a beeline to the art show every year, the Parishath is advising them to upload their artworks on a dedicated website being built to showcase for display and sale.

"We plan to run the website (chitresanthe.org) for a month and stream discourses, debates and interactions between artists and fans, which are held otherwise offline when the event is live on the street," said an official.

The programs can also be watched on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube along with the website. Different platforms and social media will help in reaching large audience.

Modern and traditional artworks, including paintings of Mysore, Tanjore, Rajasthani, Madhubani and other schools will be on the website for viewing and buying.

Artists can register for the online event on the official website of   www.karnatakachitrakalaparishath.com/chitra-santhe/.

The registration fee for artists of Karnataka is Rs.500 and Rs.1000 for those from other states. Rs.1500 fee is decided for foreign artists. And to boost the morale, awards will also be bestowed on eminent artists.
