Anuj Thapan, man arrested from Jalandhar in Salman Khan firing case, dies by suicide in Mumbai Police custody

Anuj Thapan, accused of supplying weapons in Salman Khan's firing case died by suicide inside a prison cell while he was under Mumbai Police custody.

In a massive development, Anuj Thapan, an accused arrested by Mumbai Police in Salman Khan firing case on Wednesday died by suicide. As per Anuj Thapan died while he was under Mumbai Police custody. Anuj Thapan was rushed to Gokuldas Tejpal Hospital in Mumbai when he reportedly attempted suicide inside the prison cell. For the unversed, Anuj Thapan and another accused, identified as Sonu Subhash Chander, were arrested by the Mumbai Police for allegedly supplying guns to shooters Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, who fired multiple rounds of bullets outside Salman Khan's Galaxy Apartments in Bandra on April 14. 

 

Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch on April 26 arrested two more accused from Jalandhar, Punjab in the case of firing outside Salman Khan's Galaxy Apartment in Bandra. The accused arrested from Jalandhar were identified as Sonu Subhash Chander (37) and Anuj Thapan (32). Anuj used to work as a helper for a truck driver. Thereafter, the Mumbai Crime Branch declared Lawrence Bishnoi's brother Anmol Bishnoi as a wanted accused in connection with the firing case. Anmol Bishnoi claimed responsibility for the firing outside Salman Khan's residence in a Facebook post following the attack. As per the Mumbai Crime Branch, before the firing went down, the shooters had reached Salman Khan's house four times. They had stalked the actor's farmhouse in Panvel over several days.
