Anupam Kher to exit 'New Amsterdam', the US medical drama to look after wife Kirron Kher

According to a report the senior actor of bollywood won’t be playing the role in season three as the story goes ahead.

Anupam Kher who recently announced the condition of his wife Kirron Kher has been playing a key role on NBC medical drama New Amsterdam as Dr. Vijay Kapoor might not return on the show. According to a report, the senior actor of Bollywood won’t be playing the role in season three as the story goes ahead.

The storyline of the show is set around Bellevue Hospital and its medical staff. Now the show will fall short of one doctor after the resignation of Dr. Vijay Kapoor. The show’s story depicts a real-life crisis the world is facing these days that is Covid 19 scare. In season three of the show New Amsterdam the staff will be seen battling with Covid 19 crisis. As the corona cases increase in the region many of the staff members from Bellevue hospital fall prey to the virus and even Anupam Kher’s character Dr. Kapoor tests Covid positive. Dr. Kapoor underwent open heart surgery later in the show.


The Bollywood actor was a series regular ever since the show started in 2018 under the direction of David Schulner. Other notable members of the cast were Ryan Eggold, Freema Agyeman, Janet Montgomery, Jocko Sims, and Tyler Labine.

The news of Anupam Kher leaving the show is yet not confirmed by the actor himself. It is assumed that maybe in the wake of his wife and actress Kirron Kher’s health condition he might leave the show. It was a few ago when Kher took to his social media account to announce and confirm the rumor that his wife Kirron Kher is battling Multiple Myeloma, a type of blood cancer.
