‘Apni Rasoi’ completes 7 years in Kapurthala—A heartfelt salute to selfless work

Apni Rasoi, located near the Devi Talab Temple in Kapurthala, which serves wholesome meals to the needy for just 10 rupees, has completed 7 successful years. The credit for this achievement goes not only to the management but also to the volunteers and religious and social dignitaries who supported this noble cause both financially and through service. On the successful completion of 7 years, the management expressed heartfelt gratitude to all contributors.

Managers Rajeev Dhir and Gurjeet Bawa stated that this social service initiative was started 7 years ago, and the success of the endeavor is greatly due to the efforts of the team of volunteers and supporters. With their help, Apni Rasoi has earned a name in the field of social service and has also expanded its operations. To celebrate the 7th anniversary, a special meal was prepared, which included Aloo-Poori, Chole, and sweet Seviyan.

It is worth mentioning that Apni Rasoi was established on May 6, 2018, in Kapurthala by Dr. Rajeev Dhir and Gurjeet Bawa with the aim of providing affordable and wholesome meals to the economically weaker sections of society. The initiative started with providing lunch at just 10 rupees. Seeing the benefits of this meaningful social effort, many affluent families from different cities in the state also extended their support and helped organize and expand Apni Rasoi.

According to the organizers, in the past 7 years, more than 550,000 people have enjoyed the delicious meals served by Apni Rasoi. Notably, during the COVID lockdown, the Apni Rasoi team also distributed free packed meals in various areas of the city.

Present during the food distribution to mark this milestone were Vice President Sudarshan Chhabra, Secretary Gurjeet Bawa, Harjeet Singh Anand, T.M. Bali, Prem Khillan, Kuldeep Singh Sahi, and Bittu.
