Apple brings 'zoom-like' feature to iPhones

Most people who use an iPad or iPhone generally by default use FaceTime for group calls but still some were features missing

Coronavirus-Effect Apple Zoom-Like-Feature-For-Video-Calls
Right from the beginning of coronavirus-induced-lockdown, video calling applications have become quite a norm. Each one of us staying in quarantine is maintaining our relationships through some known video calling apps but Zoom has emerged out of nowhere to gain immense popularity.

The likes of Meet and Teams from Google and Microsoft have also been spruced up by the two tech giants whereas Apple has been secretly doing its job. One reason for this is its FaceTime, which already had the feature of getting 32 people in one call. In fact, it was one of the few companies to give the option of getting so many people in a video calling apps, it looks like the Cupertino-based tech giant too is upping the game with some cosmetic changes in FaceTime.

Most people who use an iPad or iPhone generally by default use FaceTime for group calls but still some were features missing. For instance, when one uses FaceTime with multiple people on the same call the video box-- where you see others--kept bouncing all over the place in order to identify who's actually speaking.

Zoom, on the other hand, doesn't face this problem and now with the latest iOS update (13.5) Apple seems to have fixed this issue.

Last week, in the release note of iOS 13.5, Apple mentions, "Option to control automatic prominence on Group FaceTime calls so video tiles do not change size when a participant speaks." In other words, more organised and stable FaceTime calls. Do note that this feature was also updated on iPadOS as well, so iPad users too won't face this issue.

In case you are wondering how to use it, it's pretty simple:

* Update to iOS 13.5
* Go to Settings
* Open FaceTime
* Now, simply turn off the toggle, right next to Speaking, which will be under Automatic Prominence

Keep in mind that the feature is not on by default and you will have to follow the above steps if you want FaceTime calls to resemble more like Zoom calls.
