A new controversy has erupted or rather a dating rumours is sweeping K-pop fans ever since a theory surfaced on social media claiming that BLACKPINK member Rose is dating South Korean actor Kang Dong Won. Blackpink is in the headlines these due to its performance at the 2023 Coachella. Earlier, rumors have been spreading online that BLACKPINK's Rosé and actor Kang Dong Won may be in a relationship, as various netizens posted about the alleged 'evidence' of the two stars. Shortly after the rumors, YG Entertainment responded with an official statement. Representatives of YG Entertainment stated, "It is difficult to confirm because it is the private matter of the artists." Following this statement, many netizens thought the dating rumors between the two stars may be true, as netizens claimed that YG Entertainment is better known to outright deny the rumors if they are indeed false.
It is pertinent to mention here that Kang Dong Won was a part of the YG Entertainment family, until his contract expired just last December. Kang Dong Won and Rosé have a 16-year age gap between them.
Meanwhile, the rumors first began through Chinese social media when a photo of Rosé and Kang Dong Won sparked speculation the two stars are dating as well as allegations of drug paraphernalia. After the photos were posted by former Burberry chief creative officer Riccardo Tisci, he took them down after rumors of alleged drug use. YG Entertainment has since addressed the rumors, stating, "We're pursuing legal action against those who are violating our artists' rights and privacy. We're currently monitoring and watching those who create and spread these rumors. We will not be settling and will respond strongly."
