Upon the release of the “7 Rings” remix, Grande tweeted the song new art, proclaiming that she has “made a new friend” in the Atlanta-based rapper, who retweeted the sentiment.

“7 Rings” which made its debut on the Billboard Hot 100 in its first week of release, is the third release from Grande upcoming fifth studio album, 'Thank u, next' which is due on February 8 and comes on the heels of the previously released title track 'Thanku, next' and 'imagine'.

Grande first opened up about the inspiration behind “7 Rings” in her Billboard “Woman of the Year” cover story in December. “It was a… challenging fall day in New York”, Grande told the music magazine of writing the track likely signalling the aftermath of her breakup with Davidson.“Me and my friends went to Tiffany together, just because we needed some retail therapy...You know how when you’re waiting at Tiffany they give you lots of champagne? They got us very tipsy, so we bought seven engagement rings, and when I got back to the studio I gave everybody a friendship ring...that where the song idea came from.”
