Army & NDRF teams rescue 300 flood victims from flood-affected villages in Kapurthala: Capt. Karnail Singh

Army and NDRF teams today rescued nearly 300 flood victims from affected villages in the mand areas of village Talwandi Kuka falling in the Bholath subdivision of this district.

Deputy Commissioner Captain Karnail Singh and senior Superintendent of police Rajpal Singh Sandhu supervised the rescue operation since morning today .

DC told here today that six teams of NDRF and Army pressed six boats to rescue the people caught in the floods and all the flood victims have been shifted to the relief camps .

DC said that 22 villages have been affected by floods in the Beas river due to release of water from Bhakhra Dam and river is flowing at maximum level of 2.53 lakh cusec of water and water level has come down slightly.He expressed the hope that a situation would improve in the next 16to 17 hours in case no water is released from the Dam.

DC said flood victims are living inside the Dhussi bundh in deras to look after their fields and nearly 40 flood victims are reluctant to leave their flood marooned houses because of the safety of their cattle.
