A 40-year-old ASI Sukhwinder Singh posted in Malerkotla, Punjab has been accused of raping a woman and getting her abortion done while she was 6 months pregnant. The complainant also revealed that the accused made a video of hers and threatened to make it viral if she does not agree to his terms. ASI Sukhwinder Singh is a resident of Faujewal of Sangrur.
Reportedly, victim’s husband was suffering from a prolonged illness and was facing a financial crisis. During this, she met ASI Sukhwinder Singh in Ludhiana who then befriended her and after a certain point of time forced her to have a physical relationship with him. The woman further added that in the year 2022, she became pregnant and when she revealed to the accused, he got her abortion done. The ASI forced the victim to have physical relations with his friend as well. ASI then threatened the victim to viral her pictures and video if she refuses to do so. On 22nd September 2022, the woman lodged a complaint against the ASI.
ASI Gurchanjit Singh who is investigating the case informed that a case against ASI has been registered. He is accused under IPC sections 376 (rape), 313 (abortion without woman's consent) and 506 (criminal intimidation) at Thana Sadar.
