Atrangi Re is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar today. Aanand L Rai is well-known for picturing simple emotional stories in a fantastic and intriguing way. Whether it is the story of independent Tanu from Tanu weds Manu or the unusual love story of Kundan and Zoya in Raanjhana. He has always been successful in weaving the simplest of the emotional stories in the most interesting and unprecedented way.

In Atrangi Re, the director Aanand L Rai has experimented with new characters casting Akshay Kumar, Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan in lead roles. As the tiltle of the movie suggests, Aanand Rai has created characters and situations which are really Atrangi (odd).

Storyline of the movie:

In this movie, Rinku (Sara Ali Khan) has a habit of running away from her house in search of the boy she loves, Sajjad (Akshay Kumar). She feels that the only way to show her love is to elope and marry him. However, Rinku's family takes the decision to forcefully marry her off to a Tamil Brahmin Vishnu (played by Dhanush) and do away with her making sure that she never returns.

Further, what makes the movie interesting is a love triangle between Rinky-Sajjad-Vishnu and most importantly, an unexpected twist. Additionally, the story slightly touches the issue of mental health. The director has worked out so hard to bring a perfect balance amount the characters that none of them overshadow each other. The Start Actor Akshay Kumar allows Sara Ali Khan to be in front and Dhanush steals the show by his spectacular performance.

What makes the film excel?

Aanand L Rai’s manages to pull all pieces together. His grip on drama is appreciable. Moreover, A R Rehman’s music is a big plus for the movie. Sara’s Bihari dialect is on point and her performance on Chaka Chak is mesmerizing. Akshay brings Midas touch to the film. On the other hand, Dhanush’s electrifying performance steals the show.

 What disappoints the fans?

The only disappointment about the movie is that it is not getting a theatrical release. The film deserves to give a cinema-going experience to its audiences.
