The name of Pakistani Gangster Shahzad Bhatti has yet again started to echo in the streets of Jalandhar. Shahzad Bhatti's name has popped up again after Gulab Devi Road in Jalandhar was jolted with late-night firing on Monday. Two bike-borne assailants opened fire at the residence of an NRI based in Portugal. The attack is suspected to have been orchestrated at the behest of Pakistani gangster Shehzad Bhatti. Just 3 days ago, the family had reportedly received a ransom call from Pakistan.
Jalandhar NRI Attack CCTV video has also emerged. It clearly shows a gunman firing indiscriminately with both hands. As per the information received, Shehzad Bhatti himself released the video online, further confirming his involvement. Responding to the incident, Division Number 1 police reached the spot and launched an investigation into Bhatti’s role and cross-border links.
Charanjit Kaur, mother of the NRI homeowner, revealed, "Just five minutes before the firing, I received a threatening call. When I picked up the second time, the caller abused me and asked for ‘Kaka Sandhu.’ I told him only two elderly people live here." Moments later, gunfire erupted outside the house. Bullets struck doors and walls, though fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The shooter’s image on the caller ID matched Shehzad Bhatti’s photo, she added. She also stated that her husband, Gurmeet Singh, and her mother-in-law were inside the house during the attack. “We had received similar threats a year ago and even reported it to the police,” she said.
As per the Police, the family had received a ransom call last Friday from Bhatti, demanding money from Jatinder, the son of the homeowners, who currently runs a restaurant in Portugal. The Police also revealed that the viral audio clip featuring Bhatti and the victim is also under investigation.
The police have registered an FIR, and security has been heightened in the area. Authorities are now investigating potential links between Bhatti’s overseas network and local operatives.
Pakistan-based Shahazad Bhatti goes on a crime spree in Jalandhar
Notably, this is not the first time Shahzad Bhatti has carried out such a type of crime in Jalandhar, Punjab. Bhatti's name has also been linked to grenade-attack on YouTuber Rozer Sandhu's house in Jalandhar. For the unversed, unidentified assailants carried out a grenade attack on a YouTuber's home in Punjab's Jalandhar in retaliation for his alleged derogatory remarks on Islam.
However, Jalandhar Rural Police SSP (then) Gurmeet Singh had said that Pakistani Don Shahzad Bhatti and Sandhu were friends. Sandhu is a very famous influencer. Sandhu had once got Bhatti a gift (earning money through games). But when Sandhu refused to do it again, their dispute increased. After which, Sandhu also made some religious remarks. This case is related to digital extortion. This is the reason why this incident was carried out. Once all the accused are arrested, it will become clear who all were connected with those who carried out the said incident.
The grenade attack took place in the month of March 2025.
Grenade attack at Manoranjan Kalia's house in Jalandhar
On April 7, a hand grenade was hurled at Kalia’s residence, shattering glass panes and damaging vehicles. A preliminary Punjab Police investigation had revealed a larger conspiracy orchestrated by Pakistan’s ISI to disrupt communal harmony in Punjab.
The police have claimed that the plot was masterminded by Zeeshan Akhtar, a close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and Pakistan-based ISI-sponsored gangster Shahzad Bhatti. The role of Pakistan-based Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) was also being probed.
