Forest officials use Archimedes' principle to rescue baby elephant in Jharkhand

Forest department officers of Jharkhand are being acknowledged for using Archimedes' principle to save an elephant baby who had fallen in a well. A baby elephant accidentally fell inside a deep well in Gumla district of the state. The incident happened in Amliya toli village on Monday.

They pumped water into the well to float the elephant to surface. Great work."

Forest officials pumped water into the well so that the elephant calf could float up to the surface. They used three pumps to fill water in the well and excavated a ramp to help the elephant calf climb out.
