Thaipusam is an important religious festival celebrated in South India, which is celebrated with great pomp especially in Tamil Nadu. Lord Murugan is worshipped on this day. Devotees observe fast and perform special rituals in temples. Considering the importance of this festival, there is a bank holiday in Tamil Nadu.
