People who live in Punjab, along with those who use the banking services, should be informed that this week there are two bank holidays. All banks will remain closed on Sunday, June 1st, 2025, and again on Thursday, May 29th, 2029. Despite this, Online banking will remain functional during the holidays. May 29, 2025, is a gazetted bank holiday. On Thursday, May 29, 2025, banks in the Shimla and Punjab regions will remain closed for the Maharana Pratap Jayanti holiday as per RBI instructions. Rajput King Maharana Pratap Ji’s birth anniversary is also observed on this date. There will be no banking services available in commemoration of this tremendously culturally important date. 

June 1, 2025, is a gazetted bank holiday. Bank service will not be provided to the public in Punjab and is also applicable to other states on Sunday.

Banking activities, as much as they are a weekly holiday, are important and must be planned well in advance by the clients. Despite the closure of physical bank branches during the holidays, online banking will still be fully operational. It is recommended to accomplish any urgent payment tasks prior to the start of the holidays. It is recommended to complete all transactions digitally during the holidays.
