A woman who is working in a bank in Model Town, Jalandhar, was left shell-shocked and terrified when her bag was snatched near the Iconic Mall. A woman bank employee from Model Town reached out to True Scoop on Instagram and shared her first-hand account of being targeted in a snatching incident on June 25, around 4:30–4:40 PM. The woman who requested True Scoop not to reveal her identity due as she was afraid that snatchers might target her again narrated-

"I left my office early that day and was in an auto when the incident happened. I had placed my bag beside me while checking my phone. Suddenly, someone casually approached, snatched the bag, and fled before I even realized what had happened. I didn’t get a chance to shout or react."

The snatchers were not masked, she added, but due to the suddenness of the incident, she couldn't get a clear look at their faces. She believes that CCTV cameras in the area must have captured footage of the crime.

Shockingly, within an hour, another colleague from the same office was nearly robbed in a similar fashion near Guru Nanak Mission Chowk, close to Burger King. A man on an Activa scooter attempted to snatch her bag, but timely intervention by bystanders helped her hold on to it. The growing frequency and similarity in these incidents suggest a pattern, potentially pointing to an active snatching gang, the woman sensed.

She further revealed that she filed a police complaint the next day. Initially, she visited Model Town Police Station Division Number 6, but was redirected to the Jalandhar Bus Stand Police Station due to the location of the incident. There, she was asked to write the complaint on plain paper. "They took my statement but gave me nothing in return. It all seemed very casual," she stated.

Adding to the concern, another woman at the same police station reported a similar snatching attempt at the exact same spot. The victim also mentioned a troubling local rumor that snatchers somehow learn who files complaints. "That made me afraid, but I still submitted a complaint. The phone in the stolen bag wasn't locked, and it contained two SIM cards, one of mine and one of my sister who lives abroad," she said.

So far, there has been no official response or follow-up action shared by the police, the victim further shared.

True Scoop reiterates that the victim requested to keep her identity confidential as she is afraid.
