
Indian banks have observed plenty of holidays this year including national holidays, state-specific festivals, and significant observances. According to the holiday list released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will remain closed for 15 days in different states of India in September. These holidays include the second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays as well.
The RBI has released the holiday list in order to ensure that the customers do not face any inconvenience as this list will help them in planning their banking tasks accordingly.
The Reserve Bank of India is the regulatory body that is responsible for the regulation of the Indian banking system. It has the authority to determine all the bank holidays under Negotiable Instruments Act, Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) holidays, and bank account closure restrictions that are applicable for both public and private banks all across the country.
Banks are going to remain shut on the occasion of Tirubhav Tithi of Srimanta Sankardeva, Ganesh Chaturthi, First Onam, Milad-un-Nabi or Id-e Milad, Indrajatra/Id-e-Milad, Pang-Lhabsol, Friday following Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi, Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi Day, Birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji.
Although, on these holidays, no physical banking services will be available for the customers but the banks customers can use the internet banking, SMS banking, WhatsApp banking services for their financial and non-financial transactions.
