After performing moderately well at the box office, Bastar aka Bastar: The Naxal Story will be released on Zee5 on May 17, 2024. From the makers of The Kerala Story, Bastar again sparked controversies on social media with netizens accusing the makers of defaming the grand old party- Congress. Created by Sudipto Sen, Bastar: The Naxal Story features Adah Sharma as I.P.S. Neerja Madhavan, Indira Tiwari as Ratna, Vijay Krishna as Lanka Reddy, Yashpal Sharma as Utpal Trivedi, Raima Sen as Vanya Roy, Shilpa Shukla as Neelam Nagpal, Anupam Jordar as Home Minister Prabhat Kumar and more in the leading roles. While the makers have not mentioned that Bastar is a true story,  it is obvious that the story revolves around the real-life 2010 Tadmetla incident in which 76 security personnel were martyred. Since you have landed on this page, True Scoop News assumes that you have watched the movie on Zee5 and wondering about Bastar True Story or the real-life Home Minister Prabhat Kumar shown in the movie. Below is what we know about Bastar's real-life Home Minister Prabhat Kumar-

Bastar True Story in Brief

The movie highlights of 2010 Tadmetla incident. For the unversed, on April 6, 2010, 75 CRPF personnel and a state policeman were martyred by a battalion-strong contingent of PLGA, the 'military' wing of CPI(Maoist), in the dense forests between Chintalnar and Tadmetla, then in Dantewada district. In terms of body count, it was the worst Maoist attack in India's history.

Notably, in March 2024, many social media users outlined the uncanny similarities between Home Minister Prabhat Kumar and real-life Congress leader P Chidambaram. After a clip of Bastar movie was shared on X, many reacted to it. In fact, #BanBastarMovie also trends on X.

Notably, Congress veteran leader P Chidambaram served as Minister of Home Affairs from 29 November 2008 to 31 July 2012. It is pertinent to mention here that neither the makers have stated that it showcased Prabhat Kumar's character is inspired by P Chidambaram, nor True Scoop News says it.

According to IMDB page about the movie, the events in the movie are based on real-life events that occurred during the 1910 Bastar Rebellion. The film depicts several real-life events from the insurgencies such as the massacre of 76 soldiers of the Central Reserve Police Force, and then gives them a dramatic spin. The film compares the Maoist insurgency to Islamic State and Boko Haram and draws links between the Naxal leadership and Lashkar-e-Toiba, Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, and Filipino communists.
