Bawaal OTT release: when and where to watch

The much-anticipated film Bawaal, starring youth icons Varun Dhawan and Jahnvi Kapoor in the lead roles, and helmed by the critically acclaimed director Nitesh Tiwari who is responsible for highly successful coming-of-age films such as Dangal, Chillar Party and Chhichore who is directing his first romantic drama with this film, will be hitting the OTT space very soon. It will be the first time the actors will be sharing screen space with each other and the second time producer Sajid Nadiadwala and director Nitesh Tiwari will be collaborating after the 2019 superhit Chhichore.

The film will release on the streaming platform Amazon Prime Video in the month of July across 200 countries and territories. The exact date has not been announced yet but the film will be premiering on any of the four Fridays of the month i.e. 7th, 14th, 21st, or 28th. The film was earlier scheduled to release on the big screen but the plans were scrapped and the makers opted for a direct OTT release to help the film reach beyond borders.

In a press statement, Nitesh Tiwari said, "Shot across three Indian locations and five European countries, ‘Bawaal’ has a captivating storyline, dramatic visuals, and absolutely amazing chemistry between the lead talent Varun and Jahnvi. I believe that the worldwide premiere on the OTT platform will help us take Bawaal to audiences in India and across borders." Similarly, the producer of the film Sajid said, "Bawaal is a very special film for me, and one of my most ambitious projects. It has been an absolute joy to produce this film which has been directed by my most loved filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari with Varun and Jahnvi giving their very best, in their first film together. This story deserves a grand worldwide premiere."

Bawaal promises to be a spectacular love story set across many territories of Europe and India in the backdrop of war. With this being Nitesh Tiwari's first foray into the genre for the acclaimed director who usually directs coming-of-age dramas, it remains to be seen how effective his treatment will be in an entirely new genre for him. The fresh pairing incites even more excitement for the audiences.
