British media house BBC has been embroiled in multiple controversies over the past few days in its own country- the United Kingdom. BBC came under the scanner of the UK Government and a majority of people living there after the media refused to label Hamas as a terrorist organization. Although UK PM Rishi Sunak termed the Hamas attack on Israel as a terrorist attack, BBC continued to call them militants fighting for Palestine. As a result, on Saturday, BBC's office was defaced and a red paint was splashed on its building.

BBC presenter Victoria Derbyshire shared a video of the exterior and wrote: "Just arrived at work. This is the front entrance to BBC this morning."

A Met Police spokesperson was quoted saying, "We are aware of criminal damage to a building in Portland Place, W1A...At this stage there is no suggestion this is linked to any protest group."

Broadcaster and radio DJ Edward Adoo also shared pictures of BBC studios. Edward wrote, "Just got to the BBC the main entrance is blocked someone sprayed red paint at the entrance."

It is pertinent to mention here that despite criticism and controversy, BBC chiefs insisted they would keep referring to Hamas as "militants" in the name of fairness. Interestingly, Hamas is officially classed as a terrorist group by a string of western governments including the UK.  UK PM Rishi Sunak, the King, and Prince and Princess of Wales are among many to call Hamas terrorists.
