From the past two days, the truth has been circulating on social media that former Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal and Akali Dal President Sukhbir Badal are being termed as accused in Behbal Kalan and Kotkapura firing cases?

Divulging more into details, it has been found that the Special Investigating Team (SIT) had not named them as accused in the case but in the application presented in the Faridkot Sessions Court allegations have been leveled against them.

However, the purpose of the petition is something else but it mentions that both the Badals are guilty in some of the cases related to Behbal Kalan and Kotkapura firing cases.

Although this has not been officially confirmed it is learned that the wording in the petition is like this: ..."Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Singh Badal arrayed (arraigned) as accused in some cases..".

There is no information about what these cases are, how they have been accused, what section has been imposed on them, etc. However, this is the first time that SIT has used the word "accused" for both Badals in a government document.

The two were included in the list of the people who were questioned in the case but the word "accused" was not used for them in challans or other documents filed in these cases.

It is also learned that the application has been filed by the district attorney (prosecution).
