750 Bengaluru cops learn and perform Zumba to beat stress

Almost 750 cops from Bengaluru’s northeast division participated in the Zumba session. Cops danced to amba beats during a Zumba training programme. As the department seeks to use Zumba as a relaxation technique among personnel, around 30 teams of 25 members each participated in the programme.

The job of a Policeman is quiet hectic and full of stress. They rarely get time to spend with their family. Whenever duty calls they have to go. However, Bengaluru has come up with an incredible idea of Zumba. To release the stress of cops the North East division conducted a Zumba dance class during an award ceremony on Thursday.

Almost 750 cops from Bengaluru northeast division participated in the Zumba session. Cops danced to amba beats during a Zumba training programme. As the department seeks to use Zumba as a relaxation technique among personnel, around 30 teams of 25 members each participated in the programme.

The idea of Zumba is of Bhimashankar Guled, DCP, (North East division) said that he chose Zumba as it promotes coordination, synchronisation and team-building, which is the essence of the police department.

He also said, "We have a concept of ‘cop of the month’, where police personnel in the division are recognised and awarded for best investigation practices. Since the award programme was pending, we decided to organise it in a more meaningful way."
