Bengaluru shopkeeper attacked for playing Hanuman Chalisa during Ramzan namaz; Video Viral

In a bizarre development, a shopkeeper named Mukesh was assaulted by a group of men for allegedly playing Hindu devotional songs including Hanuman Chalisa during Ramazan Namaz. The shocking incident took place on Jumma Masjid Road, Siddanna Galli, Bengaluru when a group of men passing by reportedly heard Hanuman Chalisa playing in a shop.

 

As per reports, Mukesh, who runs a mobile shop called 'Vardhman Telecom', was targeted by five or six youths. As per Mukesh who was quoted by a portal, the scuffle began when the youths objected to the playing of bhajans during the evening worship time. Mukesh recounted that one of the individuals confronted him, demanding to know why devotional songs were being played during the Namaz. The argument quickly escalated into violence, with Mukesh being struck on the head with a speaker, causing significant injury.

 

"It felt like he had a weapon in his hand. That's why it hurt so much," said Mukesh as reported by a portal. Mukesh further revealed that he had been facing harassment from the same group for the past two months, with attempts to extort money and intimidate him.

 

Bengaluru Police's official statement revealed, " An altercation occurred between a group of people and a shopkeeper last evening during 'Azaan' time when a shopkeeper played a song loudly near Siddanna Layout, in Bengaluru. A few Muslim youths questioned him, and an argument ensued, leading to them hitting the shopkeeper. An FIR has been registered at Halasuru Gate Police Limit, and the police are working to arrest the accused."

 

Now, Bengaluru shopkeeper video is going viral on X with netizens expressing their shock and demanding strict action against the group of youths who assaulted him. Notably, on Sunday, a video came to the fore in which a group of people reportedly attacked International Students in Gujarat University for allegedly reading Namaz in hostel premises. Taking action on this, two people were arrested by the Ahmedabad Police on Sunday for attacking foreign students at Gujarat University, allegedly for offering taraweeh, a namaz prayer offered during Ramadan. The arrested accused have been identified as Hitesh Mewada and Bharat Patel.
