India's much-played and followed Battleground Mobile India (BGMI) on Thursday was banned from India. BGMI ban report came after it was revealed that the widely-played online game was pulled down from Google Play Store and Apple App Store on Thursday. BGMI was launched in India last year as a rehashed version of Chinese PUBG Mobile. PUBG Mobile was among the multiple Chinese apps which were banned by the Indian government citing 'national security' threat after the Indian Army's faceoff with the Chinese along the LAC.

BGMI Ban Reason

Those looking for the BGMI ban reason might have to wait as the game officials are yet to ascertain the actual reason. However, it is being reported that the BGMI ban comes after a 16-year-old minor boy shot and murdered his own mother over an argument on online games like PUBG. Following that Indian investigative agencies are probing the matter. Notably, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar had stated that  PUBG was banned in India in 2020, but banned apps have been resurfacing in new avatars. This was a clear reference to BGMI.

As soon as gamers could not find their own favourite games on the play store, everyone started to query about the BGMI ban reason. Following that Google Play Store and Krafton issue their statement.

Google Play Store in its statement said, "On receipt of the order, following established process, we have notified the affected developer and have blocked access to the app that remained available on the Play Store in India.” On the other hand, Krafton said, "We are clarifying how BGMI was removed from Google Play and will let you know once we get specific information."
