Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Governor of Maharashtra has apologized to the people of Maharashtra for the remark that he made during an event.

Maharashtra governor apologized on Monday for the remark that he made during the event that if Gujaratis and Rajasthanis will leave Mumbai, then the city will be left with no money. This statement of his kicked up a political row in the state of Maharashtra. 

After his remark, many political leaders slammed him for the same and asked him to apologize to other communities living in the city. 


The Governor of Maharashtra issued an apology through his Twitter handle saying that he made a mistake by praising a certain community for the development of the city. He mentioned further that every community has immensely contributed to the development and progress of the country. 

He also impressed upon the point, “I am confident that the people of Maharashtra have a big heart and will forgive me for my remarks.” 


Koshiyari on 9 July, during an event, said that if the Gujaratis and Rajasthanis will are removed from Maharashtra then Mumbai will be left with no money which would cease the financial capital of the country. 

“I do not want to insult someone sitting on the post of Governor. I respect the chair but Bhagat Singh Koshyari insulted Marathis and there is anger among the people. The governor is trying to divide society on religion, he is crossing every limit,” said Udhav Thackrey after his remark.
