Bharat Bhushan Ashu inaugurates start of construction of 225 MLD Sewerage Treatment Plant at Jamalpur today

In a good news for the Ludhiana residents, Punjab Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu today inaugurated the start of construction of 225 MLD Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) at Jamalpur area of the city. This STP is the part of Rs 650-crore Budha Nullah Rejuvenation project.

 

It is pertinent to mention that with 225 MLD, this is the biggest STP in the state and would contribute to a large extent for cleaning and rejuvenation of Budha Nullah. Earlier, the Cabinet Minister also inaugurated the start of work of installation of chain link fencing on both sides of the 14-km stretch of Budha Nullah.

 

He was also accompanied by Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu, MC Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal, members of the Budha Nullah Task Force, besides a large number of councillors and officials.


Terming it as a historic event, Bharat Bhushan Ashu said that the upcoming 225 MLD Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) at Jamalpur is the biggest in the state and would play an important role in cleaning and rejuvenation of the Budha Nullah. He assured that very soon, the Budha Nullah would present a neat and clean look with clean water and beautification of embankments.

 

Vowing to transform the 'Budha Nullah' into 'Budha Dariya', Bharat Bhushan Ashu said that cleaning of around 14-kilometer long stretch of Budha Nullah is one of the foremost projects in his priority.

 

He assured the residents that the work related to Rs 650-crore Budha Nullah rejuvenation project would be carried out in a transparent manner and not even a single penny of the public funds to be used for this project would not be misused at any cost. 

 

He thanked Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for taking special interest in this project and requesting Satguru Uday Singh to lead the task force set up for this project.

 

He also assured that if any person has any suggestion regarding this project, they can submit them in writing with the department and they would be incorporated. He said that this project has been designed keeping in mind the requirements of the next 10 years.

 

Earlier, he inaugurated the start of work related to the Rs 13.39 crore project for installation of chain link fencing along the 14-km stretch of the Budha Nullah on both sides. He informed that this chain link fencing is being installed to ensure that no one disposes solid waste into the water channel.
