Biden as US President: What it means for India?

Biden administration will give citizenship to 11 million illegal immigrants in US in an eight year path. Trump's restrictions and inward looking strategy that was governed by 'Make America great again' was harmful for the immigrants.

India's concerns are highly placed in the Biden's presidency because it is a new record where 20 Indian Americans, including 13 women are suspected to have bagged key roles. 17 of these 20 will a part of the White House complex.

Indians are also hoping that Joe Biden during his reign will lift all the work visa related restrictions that Donald Trump administration had imposed. Biden had already made clear that h is going to reverse visa related orders of the previous administration but it is still obscure if Indians will benefit from it or not.

America has always been a dream destination for Indians in the Information and Technology sector. As far as internal issues of India are concerned, the Trump administration was beneficial for India ranging from the question of Kashmir, Citizenship Amendment Act, Ayodhya's Ram temple among others. However, it is to be noted that Democrats are expected to raise their voice on these issues and prominently on every human rights violation in Asia or in rest of the world.

The rejection rate of H1-B Visa went considerably up during the Trump administration. Moreover, race relations in America hit at an all time low with Black Lives Matter (BLM) protests. Indians were very concerned about race relations because they also face race slurs at times.

During the Trump administration, India gets support over the aggressive and assertive China. Trump administration belief in strong India to tackle the growing power of China was evident. Although, Biden will most probably help India but it won't be too aggressive on China.

President elect Joe Biden's choice for top intelligence job in America is Avril Haines. US is expected to be hard on China as Haines on Tuesday said, the US should take an aggressive stance towards the threat posed by aggressive and assertive China according to a report published in Reuters.

Haines is Biden's nominee for Director of National Intelligence (DNI). The former CIA Deputy Director said, her priority is to restore the trust of people and within the intelligence system of US.

When Biden chose Kamala Harris as the Vice President candidate, it made African-Americans and Indian-Americans considerably satisfied. Now it will be ascertained over time, how the Biden administration takes stand on the issues concerning India.
