Biden stays travel restrictions despite Trump lift order

The restrictions imposed by early last year by Donald Trump in response to the pandemic were lifted by the president after an order on Monday.

US Covid Travel-restrictions

As President Donald Trump lifted travel restrictions that would have been effective from January 26, the upcoming Biden administration have extended travel restrictions barring travel by people in Europe and Brazil as per a report published in Reuters and BBC.

The restrictions imposed by early last year by Donald Trump in response to the pandemic were lifted by the president after an order on Monday. Soon after the news about the lifting of restrictions from January 26, the spokesperson, Jen Psaki, of the upcoming President Joe Biden tweeted, "on the advice of our medical team, the Administration does not intend to lift these restrictions on 1/26.”

“With the pandemic worsening, and more contagious variants emerging around the world, this is not the time to be lifting restrictions on international travel,” Jen Psaki added.

The head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in an order signed last week asked travelers to present a negative coronavirus report to enter US from January 26.
