Bihar to get new Chief Minister-elect by late night, says Election Commission

As per the statistics, there has been 63 percent increase in the number of polling booths this year due to Covid-19 protocols.

Vote counting for Bihar Assembly Elections is underway and till now, NDA has taken lead over the Grand Alliance. But, the results might change its direction as the counting will unravel. According to the Election Commission, Bihar Assembly Elections Result is likely to be out at late night after 35 rounds of counting. 

The Election Commission during a press conference said, "Earlier, the counting of the votes used to take place in 38 locations. Now, due to the coronavirus pandemic guidelines, it is taking place at 55 locations. This time, it will take 35 rounds per assembly constituency to get the Bihar election results."

"Needless to say that there has been an absolutely glitch-free counting process so far. Slightly more than 1 crore votes have been counted in Bihar which means that there is significant ground to be covered yet," EC further added.

A total of 1.06 lakh EVMs to be counted in Bihar, the counting is happening at 55 locations. Due to the coronavirus, polling officers at each polling booth has been limited to 1,000-1500, the EC added.

As of 1.30 pm, official Election Commission trends for all 243 seats show NDA is leading on 127 seats with BJP leading on 74 seats, JDU leading on 48 seats, VIP on 4 seats, and HAM on one seat. On the other hand, Mahagathbandhan is ahead on 106 seats with RJD leading on 66 seats, Congress leading on 21 seats, Left on 19 seats. BSP is leading on two seats, AIMIM on three, LJP on one, and independents on four seats.
