The Punjab government has initiated an investigation into gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s news interview before the death anniversary of Sidhu Moosewala. The investigation is with in remit of IPS Kuldeep Singh, Special DGP, STF, SAS Nagar, Punjab and the Additional Director General of Police, Jails. The news comes after the Punjab government was criticized for allowing Bishnoi to give a news interview while incarcerated. The Punjab government and police authorities responded by stating that no such interview took place while the gangster was under their watch and have sighted that Bishnoi is often moved by other police forces and agencies beyond their jurisdiction. This has raised questions about the origin of the interview and where Bishnoi was housed when it was taken. The investigation is meant to clarify the doubts that linger about the facilities and freedom available to convicted prisoners in the jails of Punjab.
