In what can be called bizarre, disgusting, and embarrassing at the same time, the President of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit, was caught peeing his pants on live camera. South Sudan which is a North African country is facing global embarrassment, after 71-year-old Salva Kiir Mayardit was caught urinating on himself on December 13, last year when he had gone to commission a newly constructed road. During the national anthem, he was seen urinating in his pants. Now, South Sudan President peeing video has been spreading like a wildfire and gaining global attention. Netizens are in shock and asking questions about why the South Sudan President did not hold or go to the washroom knowing the fact that he was standing in the presence of the media. It is pertinent to mention here that Salva Kiir Mayardit has been the President of South Sudan ever since it gained independence in July 2011.

In the South Sudan President urinating video, it can be seen Salva standing while the national anthem of the African country plays in the background. Apart from Salva, security forces, people, and media were also present when the President of South Sudan could not hold and urinated on himself. Soon the video was shared on social media by the journalists present there at the spot and it went viral in no time.

However, on Tuesday (January 3), the security agents arrested 6 journalists, who are associated with the state broadcaster ‘South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation’. The scribes were accused of circulating the embarrassing footage of the South Sudanese President. This was despite the fact that the video was never aired. They were identified as Victor Lado (Camera Technician), Joval Tombe (Control Room Director), Cherbek Ruben (Control Room Technician) and camera operators Mustafa Osman, Joseph Oliver, and Jacob Benjamin. Meanwhile, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has called for the unconditional release of the journalists. Muthoki Mumo, the sub-Saharan Africa representative of CPJ, stated that South Sudan has a history of detaining journalists arbitrarily whenever the news coverage appears unfavourable to the ruling political dispensation.
