BJP: Initial list of candidates released, here are the highlights

Tickets for 20 women have been announced by BJP and no candidates have been announced from MP-Bihar.

Uttar Pradesh: On Thursday, BJP has released the first list of 184 candidates or Lok Sabha elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be fighting the elections, again from Varanasi. BJP president Amit Shah will be replacing LK Advani in Gandhinagar. Former BJP president Nitin Gadkari will be fighting from Nagpur and Singh has been given ticket from Lucknow. Once again, Smriti Irani got the ticket from Amethi to fight against the Congress President Rahul Gandhi.

Rajasthan: Names of 16 candidates have been announces. Out of these, 14 candidates those have been given tickets are MPs. Nihal Chand got the ticket again from Ganganagar. Due to sexual harassment allegations, Nihal Chand was time and again targeted by opposition. From Ajmer, Bhagirath Chaudhari name has come up. Congress had won the Lok Sabha by-elections.

Chhattisgarh: BJP has come up with 5 names from the state. All the five tickets have been given to new faces.

MP-Bihar: It was expected that BJP will come up with the names of candidates contesting from Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. However, no names from both the states have been announced yet.

The first list includes tickets for 20 women, including Smriti Irani, Hema Malini, Poonam Mahajan, Pritam Munde. Also 8 times Member of Parliament Advani name was not there in the first list and suspence also surrounds Murli Manohar. 91-year-old Advani, who was a Lok Sabha member for 8 consecutive elections from 1989 to 2014, won the elections six times from Gandhinagar.
