Etawah: Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party government of spreading hatred among people and dividing them following the Britishers 'divide and rule' policy.

The SP president said during elections, BJP leaders practice a politics of jealousy, spread hatred and assume power.

Advising party workers, before returning to Lucknow from his ancestral village Saifai on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Mr. Yadav said those who lie, wear good clothes people trust and believe that individual.

The former UP CM said the Samajwadi Party was in great need of discipline and training today. He said it had come to his notice that one party worker was posing hurdles in the way of another if the latter wanted to meet the senior or big leaders of the party and added that they needed to stand clear of this nature and give due chances to other party workers as well.

Discussing the workings of the opposition parties, Mr. Yadav said if the opposing camps had to be defeated, the party needs to work in a better manner. He added that the people in the party should work towards strengthening themselves in villages and rural areas but the image of the booth in-charge or worker in a particular region also matters because it affects the party's base.

Further, Mr. Yadav added that the booth in-charges whose image was not up to the mark were in no way reliable because due to them the party base shifts in the villages.

The SP president said that earlier, people had jobs in front of them but today, the government had made the reservation process so difficult that people had to toil hard for getting jobs.

Slamming the BJP government, he said that the politics of lies and deceit was at its zenith today and the way in which people who speak against the government, are treated is well-known.
