'Why Cheat India' collects Rs 1.71 cr on day 1

'Why Cheat India' is a comedy drama film on the corruption prevalent in the present-day education system of the country

New Delhi: Emraan Hashmi starrer 'Why Cheat India' seemed to be a non-starter, as it minted Rs 1.71 crore on day one, trade sources said on Saturday.

The movie produced by Bhushan Kumar and Emraan Hashmi earned Rs 1.71 crore on Friday.

''Needs miraculous growth over the weekend to post a decent total,'' the sources said.

'Why Cheat India' is a comedy drama film written and directed by Soumik Sen. It features Emraan Hashmi and Shreya Dhanwanthary in the lead roles.

The movie is based on the corruption prevalent in the present-day education system of the country. The film was theatrically released on January 18.
